Are you an experienced health writer or editorial manager looking for a more rewarding position? How about a fun and exciting role that would allow you a flexible schedule and the ability to work from home?

If so, then I may have exactly what you are looking for!

I’m the CEO of a fast growing health and fitness publishing company and I’m searching for an experienced editorial manager and writer to join our team.

You must have a strong passion for natural health and fitness. If you’re idea of healthy is taking prescription drugs, then this position is NOT for you.

To be considered you must also be highly organized and posses experience as an editorial manager / writer, preferably in the health/fitness market.

If selected, you will be responsible for managing all of our content and will work closely with our marketing team to coordinate editorial content with our marketing promotions.

The work can be performed from your home or office or at our company headquarters in Gaithersburg, Maryland (30 minutes outside of Washington DC) and both full and part time positions are available.

Here is some more detailed information about the position…

Short-term Objectives (90 days)

- Create a new “customer only” newsletter (4 pages) that will be printed and mailed monthly
- Have all existing website content for edited for spelling and grammar errors
- Create a “content calendar or schedule” for all company content needs
- Develop 10 different “special reports” to be used in marketing and as gifts for current subscribers and customers

Ongoing Objectives and Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing existing team of 2 freelance writers and recruiting more as needed
• Ensure high quality writing from all freelance writers and eliminate any who are not performing well
• Freelance writers can do all writing or you can do some or most of it yourself. How much of the writing you do, if any, will determine the number of work hours per week
• Manage vendor relationships (printer, graphic designer)
• Final approval on all content before it is published
• Develop and manage 2 monthly print newsletters (“Get Healthy & Fit News” which is a paid subscription and “Less Pain, More Life” which is our free customer newsletter)
• Develop 8 articles per month for our email newsletter and to be placed on website
• Develop 8 short articles (200 – 300 words) per month to be used for search engine marketing
• Create 1 “special report” (1500 – 3000 words) per month to be used as a free offer to get new subscribers and / or as a gift


Critical Requirements:

- At least 1 year experience as editorial manager and writer
- Be able to recognize quality writing – writing that meets our style, tone
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to schedule and manage multiple projects involving multiple people inside and outside the company
- Ability to set and meet project deadlines
